Paris, 26 May 2013: Meeting of the ACA-Europe Board

The Association of Councils of State and Supreme Administrative Jurisdictions of the European Union (ACA-Europe) held the first of its two annual Board meetings in Paris on 26 May 2013. Mr Yves Kreins, the Secretary-General of ACA-Europe, gave an overview of the association's activities, with a particular focus on projects connected with the databases managed by the association, working visits by judges in 2013, and cooperation with the European authorities in relation to the seminar that took place on 22 April 2013 in Parma (where the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) is based) in cooperation with DG SANCO and ReNEUAL, a network of professors of administrative law. This seminar focused on the role of administrative courts in the food safety procedures established at European Union level. Mr Christian Vigouroux, a Member of the Council of State and Chairman of the Reporting and Research Section of the Council of State of France, gave a brief presentation of the seminar. The chosen topics of the seminars taking place in the second half of 2013 in The Hague (under the auspices of the Council of State of the Netherlands) and Paris (under the auspices of the French Presidency of ACA-Europe) were then discussed. Lastly, there was a brief discussion about the seminar scheduled for the 28 of May 2013 entitled 'Efficient, high-quality administrative justice'.

The association's 2012 budget was assessed taking account of the approval received from the Court of Audit of Belgium, and the 2013 budget was then set out. ACA-Europe's funding under the European Commission's multi-annual plans for the period 2014-2020 was also the subject of a separate discussion between Board members.

This Board meeting was chaired by Mr Jean-Marc Sauvé, Vice-President of the Council of State of France and President of ACA-Europe.
