Brussels, 5 July 2012: Meeting organised in the Permanent Representation of France, presentation of ACA-Europe
On 5 July, ACA-Europe, together with the Permanent Representation of France to the European Union, organised a meeting between the association and various prominent figures from the European institutions to mark the inauguration of Mr J. Sauvé, Vice-President of the Council of State of France, as President of ACA-Europe.
The meeting took place under the patronage of Mr P. Etienne (in the right of the photo), ambassador and Permanent Representative of France to the European Union, who welcomed the participants.
Mr Y. Kreins then provided an overview of ACA-Europe's activities. He mentioned the dynamic that has shaped the association, which, since its foundation, has gone from being a biannual meeting between the Supreme Administrative Courts of the six founding Member States of the European Union to an organisation that, among other things, organises colloquia, conferences and seminars aiming to enable the 32 Supreme Administrative Courts it brings together to share knowledge and practices concerning the implementation of EU law, issues publications on these events and manages the databases of case law that can be accessed on its website www.aca-europe.eu (Dec-Nat and Jurifast) and through the website www.eur-lex.europa.eu.
In his speech, Mr J. Sauvé outlined the main features of his way of thinking and set out the strategy he intends to pursue during his two-year presidency, taking in transversal topics like the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, improving the quality of justice, and the emergence of European administrative law, alongside more sectoral topics such as environmental law, the establishment of a European area of freedom, security and justice, and economic regulation.
