In Barcelona on 26 and 27 April 2010, ACA-Europe organised the conference entitled "The new regulatory framework for telecommunications in Europe" in conjunction with the Spanish Telecommunications Regulator (CMT) and the Supreme Court of Spain. The participants included 20 judges from Supreme Administrative Courts that are members of ACA-Europe.
The purpose of the conference was to discuss the judicial issues stemming from the entry into force of the new regulatory framework for telecommunications. As is clear from the programme of the event was attended by , many highly knowledgeable speakers, including the two pictured in the photo below, namely on the left Mr Reinald Krüger , Head of Unit, Procedures related to National Regulatory Measures from the European Commission and on the right Mr Ignacio Redondo, Secretary General and Secretary of the Board of the Spanish Telecommunications Regulator CMT). Their contributions afforded a valuable insight into the making of the framework and its content, the limits related to the need to respect citizens’ rights and also some of the more technical issues, like the management of traffic, the prevention of distortions of competition and the guarantee of a universal service.
Mr Manuel Campos, Judge in the Supreme Court of Spain and an active member of ACA-Europe as its Auditor (pictured on the right in this photo) was one of those who chaired the proceedings.
Mr Ramon Trillo, President of the Administrative Chamber of the Supreme Court of Spain, which holds the Vice-Presidency of ACA-Europe (shown here on the right of the photo, sitting next to , ACA-Europe Deputy Secretary General Martine Baguet), made the closing remarks. It was his last contribution to the activities of ACA-Europe before taking retirement.
